Record player stand designs we build
- Open-shelf stands — a turntable top with one or two open shelves below for LPs, often with a divider so records stand upright. The simplest flat-pack design and the most common entry SKU for e-commerce.
- Cabinet-base stands — a stand with doors or a drop front below the turntable; closer to a small vinyl record cabinet, popular with furniture retailers.
- Mid-century and hairpin-leg stands — tapered wooden legs or steel hairpin legs, slatted fronts and rounded corners for a retro look.
- Industrial metal stands — powder-coated steel frames with wood or MDF shelves, light and stable when the frame is braced correctly.
- Compact stands and side tables — small footprints for apartments and shop counters; see turntable stands.
Sizing a record player stand for turntables and LPs
Two things set the size: the turntable on top and the records below. Most consumer turntables need a top surface of roughly 18–20 in (45–50 cm) wide and 14–16 in (35–40 cm) deep, and many buyers want room for a pair of bookshelf speakers or a small amplifier beside it. Turntable top heights commonly sit around 24–32 in (60–80 cm) so the platter is easy to reach when standing or seated.
For storage, 12-inch LP jackets are about 12.4 in (314 mm) square, so LP compartments are normally designed with roughly 13 in (330 mm) or more of clear height and depth. As a planning figure, about 6 single LPs fit per inch of shelf width — gatefolds and box sets reduce that. The full dimension and capacity tables are in our specs & selection guide.
Materials, finishes and stability
Frames are made in solid wood (species chosen per program and price point), MDF or particleboard with wood veneer, melamine or paper laminate, plywood, or powder-coated steel. Finishes include natural oil or lacquer, stained veneers, matte black and white, and two-tone wood-and-metal combinations.
Records are heavy — 100 LPs can weigh in the region of 20–30 kg (45–65 lb) — so shelf thickness, span, back panels or cross-bracing and leg fixing are specified per design. Load ratings are confirmed per SKU on the quotation rather than published as a generic number, and anti-tip hardware can be included in the box.
Who buys record player stands from us
Furniture and home retailers add record player stands as a “music corner” category; record shops sell them alongside turntables and as in-store fixtures; audio and turntable brands bundle a matching stand with their deck; and e-commerce sellers want compact flat-pack boxes that ship by parcel. See OEM & private label or wholesale.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a record player stand and a turntable stand?
The terms overlap. We use “record player stand” for furniture that combines a turntable top with LP storage, and “turntable stand” for compact stands, side tables and platforms focused on height and stability.
How many records can a record player stand hold?
It depends on the shelf width. As a planning figure, about 6 single LPs fit per inch of shelf width, so a 26-inch shelf holds roughly 150 LPs. Capacity is confirmed per design.
Do you ship stands flat-packed?
Yes, most stands ship knock-down with a hardware pack and instructions; assembled units can be quoted for retail fixtures.
Can you match a stand to our turntable?
Yes — send the turntable footprint and we size the top, height and cable routing around it.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on material, finish, branding and packaging (stock designs in neutral packaging start lower than custom sizes, custom finishes or printed retail boxes); lead time depends on materials, finishing and season. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also the packaging & MOQ section of our specs guide.
Are your products certified or load-tested?
We do not display certification badges or publish test data on this site. Requirements such as composite-wood formaldehyde rules, furniture stability or material declarations depend on your market and product; tell us what your market requires and we confirm on the quotation what documentation can be provided for your specific order. Load ratings are set per design and confirmed per SKU — ask on the inquiry form.
